| SUPPORTER SPOTLIGHT Jason Li  Our next Supporter Spotlight falls upon Jason Li, who tells us about why he stalks Stevie Gerrard 24/7, rants on and off the pitch non-stop and is football crazy!How did you find out about the OLSC Hong Kong? From being in LKF where I bumped into Dave "Benitez" Oh through a mutual friend. We got talking and he offered me the chance to play for the HK Reds. Well, I couldn’t say, "No" when he was buying me drinks all night... Anyone else in your family a Red? How about your son, who is due in August? I am NOT a Liverpool fan. I just think Stevie G is great. Though I think my Dad is a Reds fan - he likes Barnes, Dalglish and Rush. How does your poor suffering wife deal with all the football? She loves it and in fact it has been an education for her (she has learnt when to shut up!). She now knows all the Liverpool players and could probably explain the offside rule to you. Got any nicknames? Nah! Any hobbies? Football - playing and watching, though most of my time in the near future will be taken up with my soon-to-be-born son. What’s your day job? I'm an account manager for a relocation company based in Wan Chai. Been working in the industry since I arrived in HK. How long have you been in Hong Kong and what do you like about it? 3 years. It’s just better than the UK. People are friendlier, things are cheaper and there is a lot more football about! Hong Kong Reds You have played for the Hong Kong Reds football team quite a lot so what’s the best part about it? In general, I love winding up the local opposition in English and then when they try to retaliate back in English and struggle, I swear back at them in Chinese - LOL! Why do you rant so much on and off the pitch? I haven’t a clue. I guess it’s the desire to win and be a winner, the expectation of wearing the Liverpool shirt and the belief in my team that we can beat anyone. Who do you think swears more during a game, you or Tony Chan? I haven’t really noticed Tony swearing - maybe it’s because I swear so much! What is your best position? Right back. It’s where I played in the UK and where I have played all my life! Any insight on your team mates? Who’s the best/worst/who could improve? No comment... Liverpool FC We hear you worship Stevie G, so what is it you like about him? His hair? His eyes? His body? He can do it all - tackle, score, set up goals, run, head, great positional sense. Just the BEST all-round midfielder of his time. Would you leave your wife for him? LOL! Favourite Steven Gerrard goal? There are 2 and I think that a lot of the Liverpool fans would know them - Champions League group stage vs Olympiakos and FA Cup Final vs West Ham. Just the timing of both and the importance of them make them better than any others he has scored so far! If you had a day out with Stevie G in Hong Kong where would you take him? To a football pitch and play against him in midfield. Where is Stevie G’s best position for England and Liverpool? And should he be captain of England? Centre midfield - No.8 shirt. Get rid of Fat Frank (Gerrard baby sits for him too much when they play together for England). Gerrard is by far the best midfielder England has. He should be played in his best position and definitely should be captain. The Important Stuff What’s your favourite TV show? Friends. The last film you saw at the cinema? Indiana Jones. Won ton mein or congee? Won Ton. What’s your tipple? Any kind of beer. Favourite holiday destination? Beijing - so much culture and history. If you were stuck in a lift with one another person, who would it be? Er….my wife! Who would win in a fight between Ken Abela and Tony Chan? How many rounds do you think it would go? Not sure - lets put it to the test. And what’s the obsession with Tony Chan in this questionnaire? Jesscia Alba or Megan Fox? Megan Fox. |
