| SANDY BAY STROLLERS 0 v 3 HONG KONG REDS 19th November 2006, KO 10.00am, Stanley Ho Sports Stadium, Sandy Bay Team: Ian McAlan, James Bullen, John, Duncan Micallef, Rich Day, Dave Oh, Keith Jolley, Neil Williams, Kai, Leo, Julian Fordham, Gareth, Stanley, Dave Navin, Jason Li & Andy Orr Match Report by Dave Oh Fresh from their 1-0 win against Pepsi Shooters, Hong Kong Reds were full of confidence coming into this game! A squad of 17 players arrived hoping to get some action on a bright sunny morning. The Sandy Bay Strollers were yet to lose in 2006 so it was a tough ask but the Hong Kong Reds were seemingly up to the challenge. It was a cagey opening with very few chances but Hong Kong Reds were enjoying the majority of the possession. With Andy Orr and Jason Li pulling the strings in midfield it seemed inevitable that the Reds would score first. In goal, Dave Oh barely had a save to make and was mostly a spectator - this was due to the solid back four of Rich Day, Julian Fordham, Duncan Micallef and Ian McAlan. Half time arrived and the score was still 0-0. ![]() Tactical changes by the Reds at half time paid dividends. Switching Stanley and Leo on the wings meant the Strollers couldn’t cope with the pace. A wonderful cross from Stanley on the left was met by Gareth who headed in the first goal! 1-0 to the HK Reds! Soon it was to be 2-0. A thumping shot by Leo from the edge of the penalty area hit the underside of the bar. James Bullen followed up to score the rebound but the goal had already been given! Leo rightfully claimed the second for Hong Kong Reds. The Strollers’ heads dropped and it seemed they had given up hope of trying to get back into the game. Another tactical switch and this time goalie Dave Oh decided it was time to take his rightful position up front as striker with partner James Bullen. ![]() Within seconds a flowing move down the left hand side involving Leo and Kai totally bemused the Strollers defence. A neat one-two left the Strollers defence chasing shadows and a perfect cross by Leo left Dave Oh with the simple task of toe-poking the ball from 2 yards out into an empty net with his first touch! What a way to make an entrance! A convincing win for the Hong Kong Reds which maintains their unbeaten run! Final Score 0-3 Moment of the Match A flowing team move involving Leo and Kai ending with Dave Oh scoring with his first touch from 2 yards out! Man of the Match Dave Oh for keeping a clean sheet, scoring with his first outfield touch and writing another report! Who else?
