50,000 and counting!

www.hongkongreds.com officially passes 50,000 page views

The momentous event happened sometime in between Charlton Heston parting the Red Sea (again...) on TVB Pearl and Rio Ferdinand making his very own waves at Fratton Park over the Easter weekend.

When members of the Supporters’ Club Committee first broached the idea of a website way back at the tail-end of last season, doubts were raised as to whether time could be spared to undertake such a challenging project or indeed whether there was actually a demand for a website in the first place.

However, the desire to expand the Club’s activities and also to provide a virtual home for all Reds supporters in Hong Kong won through.

Now, little over a year later, this resultant website has exceeded all expectations and become an integral part of the Hong Kong Reds experience(!) with over 50,000 page views and 300,000 hits. And with a link on the Official LFC website, hongkongreds.com has become a valuable source of information for overseas Reds visiting the territory. Fellow supporters from places as far as Britain, Canada, Australia, Russia and the U.S. have all made contact through the site.

So, considering this landmark occasion, it seems appropriate to thank the people who gave up so much of their free time and endured more than a few sleep-deprived nights to make this website possible:

Dave Oh
The self-proclaimed creative guru drew upon all of his considerable talents to design every single aspect of the site. The crisp, clean lines, beautiful proportions and Club logos are entirely down to Dave. And his Mac.

Neil Williams
Without Neil, this site simply wouldn’t exist. Neil negotiated his way through all the bureaucracy to register the domain and secure the Hong Kong Reds’ place in cyberspace. His
can-do, will-doattitude ensured people stopped talking and started doing.

Mandy Lau
Mandy is wholly responsible for the code that makes this site function as smoothly as it does. An enormous undertaking, the Committee will be eternally grateful for all her hard work in making the site appear precisely as originally intended.

And before this slides into self-congratulatory, back-slapping self-indulgence...

...the biggest  “thank you” is reserved for every single person who has visited, contributed to or made suggestions for the site. That vital support has made hongkongreds.com the undeniable success it is today.

Best supporters in the world? Demonstrably so!

We certainly do not walk alone.
